Shannon Thomas was born and raised in Tulsa, OK, where she still
resides,
living a pretty average existence. But don't be fooled: Shannon's
drama-free, abnormally normal life has nothing to do with the
fantastical
world inside her head. Only through her music can you experience the
person
she really is.
On her new album, "Brainstorms," Shannon showcases her vulnerability
just as
much as her strength, her sorrow along with her joy. Although framed by
the
common theme of love, this collection of songs is a refreshing mix of
lessons learned. Her insight and honesty provide thoughtful, relatable
lyrics full of much more depth than you'd expect from a young artist at
the
beginning of her career. Time spent studying the styles of several
artists
from her own generation inspired Shannon to create strong, infectious
melodies. Recorded at Self Titled Entertainment in Tulsa, the 11 tracks
featured on "Brainstorms" were written over a period of 2 years, as
Shannon
reconnected with her childhood instrument, the piano. Every other
instrument
on the album was played by John Conrad, co-owner of STE, who produced,
mixed, and mastered each song.
Shannon was selected for a featured spot at Diversafest in 2005 & 2006
and
her song "Edward" won iRok.com's song of the month poll for January
2006.
Another song, "Rose Colored Shades," made her one of eleven finalists in
a
nation-wide music video contest. Her contact list includes active fans
from
all over the world, including South America, Europe, and Australia.
"A talent to be reckoned with. A truly great voice. Lookout, this girl's
destined to really go places." ~ Grammy award-winner David Teegarden.
